Sara Bolch is the latest benefactor of the G & E Jones Scholarship, awarded $6000 to go towards her advanced diploma of acting course at the National Theatre Drama School in St Kilda.
The funding is specifically aimed at young people from the Western District taking part in that course.
Bolch follows in the footsteps of fellow Mortlake actor Will Ewing, who received a G & E Scholarship in 2010 and 2011.
National Theatre Drama School director Ken Boucher said the $6000 could go towards fees, relocation expenses and travel costs.
“When Will first got it, he spent every weekend on the road to Mortlake to work on the farm,” Boucher said.
He said Bolch and Ewing met for the first time when having their photo taken together recently, only to find that Ewing’s mother had taught Bolch at primary school. Bolch graduated from Mortlake P-12 in 2013 with the remarkable ATAR score of 98.6 and won an award in 2012 for her portrayal of Penny in Holiday Actors’ production of Hairspray.
