This year’s morning of celebration will run from 10.30am to noon on May 19 at Vision Australia’s Koroit Street office, with volunteers, their families, clients and members of the public invited to attend.
South-west and Grampians regional manager Helen Steenbergen said Vision Australia relied on the work of more than 90 local volunteers.
“Volunteers bring valuable skills, knowledge and enthusiasm into our organisation, which enables us to provide services and support to people who are blind or have low vision,” she said.
“We are so grateful for their contribution and the morning of celebration is just one small way we can acknowledge their work and say thank you for everything they do.
Vision Australia chief executive officer Ron Hooton said the organisation had about 2880 volunteers across the country, contributing a total of 724,995 hours of work during the 2013-14 financial year.
“We are so proud of our team of volunteers who have an amazing commitment to helping people who are blind or have low vision,” Mr Hooton said.
“On behalf of the Board and leadership team I thank every one of our volunteers for sharing their time, skills and effort and recognise the irreplaceable contribution they make to Vision Australia.”
