Veal, driving for Krikke Motor Sports, claimed the Triple Crown grand final, the gold cup, at the Perth Motorplex in his second outing with the team. It was the 26-year-old’s 14th feature win of the season, double his nearest rival, Mount Gambier’s Steven Lines, who has won seven times.
Veal dominated Victorian racing this season, winning the state-based series and the Premier Speedway track championship.
He set fastest time in qualifying at Perth on Saturday night, won his opening heat and finished second in the top-eight pole shootout. Starting from outside the front row, he controlled the feature, taking the win from Jamie Maiolo.
While Veal achieved victory on a dusty track, closer to home organisers were forced to cancel Premier Speedway’s final meeting of the season because of heavy rain on Saturday afternoon.
