His father Trevor coached him at Hawkesdale-Macarthur at under 16 level and his older brother Jeremy is preparing for Koroit's senior premiership defence.
Hausler, 18, is using their knowledge as he embarks on a TAC Cup career he hopes will culminate in a chance to play football at the highest level his capabilities allow.
The lean 194-centimetre ruckman's dad no longer coaches juniors, instead he's become "just a Koroit supporter" after Hausler joined the Hampden league club in 2014 in a bid to fast-track his development.
"When I was younger I learnt the basics of football from him and he always has something to say on where I can improve in the ruck," he said of his dad's influence.
Hausler became a Saint because he wanted to play at the same club as his older brother and a solid season at Koroit had the desired result - he made the TAC Cup.
Hausler joined the Rebels for the 2015 campaign as a top-age player, put in a strong pre-season and earned a round one debut.
He not only held his spot for the first three games the Rebels have a bye this weekend but was named in the best in the first two matches.
"Going to the Hampden league really helped me out and with the coaches at Koroit they've helped me improve my footy," Hausler said.
Ruckmen take time to develop and Hausler, tipping the scales at just 76 kilograms, is no exception.
He played a combination of under 18 and reserves matches in his first season at Victoria Park and couldn't break into the Saints' powerful senior outfit as it worked its way towards a premiership.
He will make his Hampden league senior debut tomorrow in the grand final rematch against Warrnambool.
The Hawkesdale P-12 student believes his development during the pre-season coupled with a desire to improve helped him grab his chance at North Ballarat.
"I was surprised to even get asked to train with them and I wasn't even expecting to get in the team," Hausler said.
"I was in the best the first two games so I think I have really stepped up to the next level which is good.
"I am not the tallest ruckman but my jump helps me out and my work across the ground.
"I have outrun the other ruckmen I have played against."
Hausler, one of five children, joined Hawkesdale-Macarthur at under 12 level. He spent most of his time roaming the forward line before his height made him a valuable asset in the centre square.
"I was top-age under 16s when I started in the ruck and before that I was a forward or back line player," he said.
"I do enjoy the ruck but I do enjoy going forward and kicking a goal too."
North Ballarat Rebels' next match is against Calder Cannons on Anzac Day.
