O’Shannassy, behind the wheel of his brothers’ car, seized the win from Peterborough’s Ewan McKenzie and Jancourt’s Ken Baynes.
McKenzie started out of position one in the final with O’Shannassy on his outside.
It was McKenzie who made the most of the start leading away from O’Shannassy, Coad and Baynes.
In lap eight O’Shannassy started to apply heavy pressure to the leader, with McKenzie able to thwart all of his attempts as the pair managed to break from the pack.
They continued to duel for the next eight laps before O’Shannassy manoeuvred past McKenzie and into the lead on lap 17.
McKenzie set the pace in the first heat of the night when he led home Baynes and Michael Coad.
Rookie competitor Troy Gleeson held on despite heavy pressure to take the win in heat two ahead of McKenzie and Baynes.
O’Shannassy took an all-the-way win in heat three from Coad and Gleeson.
The final heat of the night went to McKenzie with O’Shannassy and Bayne next home.
The drivers completed a time-trial prior to the final with each car completing a series of two-lap dashes, with McKenzie setting the fastest time of 12.111, ahead of O’Shannassy (12.133) and Baynes (12.140).
The next super rods meeting will be at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway on Good Friday before heading to Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway for the running of the Super Rod Cup on Sunday.
