Warrnambool City Council tonight will vote on a recommendation to call tenders for widening of the eastern side of the road, drainage and kerb and channel works along the 800-metre frontage to the new park.
Footpaths and pro-perty access roads will come later as will pavement widening and kerbing on the road’s western side.
The first stage costing $6m involved upgrading and sealing the road which runs between the Princes Highway and Wangoom Road and improving the Wangoom Road intersection.
It was completed in May.
Stage two, estimated at $1.2 million, will come out of the overall $8.3 million budget which was funded by $3.6 million from state government, $2.6 million from developers and $2.1 million from the council.
Developers recently completed an overlay plan to show arrangement of lots and location of a second road into the site.
A briefing report to tonight’s council meeting says the road will be kept open during the works and traffic will be controlled.
Other items on the agenda include the Flagstaff Hill renewal project, Simpson Street tunnel renewal, an update on proposed Port of Warrnambool upgrades, footpath trading policy review and public question time.
The meeting starts at 5.45pm.
