VicRoads regional manager William Tieppo said roads in the region would soon be busy with back-to-school traffic, pedestrians and cyclists travelling to and from schools.
“Slow down and take extra care,” Mr Tieppo said. “Motorists should be aware that children in traffic are not like adults. They can be unpredictable and can be hard to see.
“A small speed reduction can significantly increase the chance of a child surviving if hit by a car.”
School speed limits will be back in place and during specified times speed limits will mostly be reduced to either 40km/h or 60 km/h.
