The 11-year-old is taking big steps towards her goal of landing a spot in a leading Australian youth dance company.
Her place in the Transit-Origins youth contemporary dance program will have her travelling to Melbourne each Friday to work under the guidance of television show So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Paul Malek.
Charlotte said she was looking forward to dancing with new people and learning more about her favourite style of dance.
“I like contemporary because you can do any type of movement and make it into something really nice,” she said.
“I’m really looking forward to making new friends and working with people who are really well known.
“I’d love to become a dance teacher and have my own dance school, or take my mum’s job.”
The program aims to expand the understanding of contemporary dance, while developing strong contemporary technique foundations and creative ability.
Students will cover subjects including progressive ballet technique, floor technique, contact, improvisation and composition.
Mum Kate said the family was proud of Charlotte and her achievements.
“Living in a regional area does present its challenges but also fosters the belief at an early age if you want something bad enough, you have to work for it,” she said.
