The Warrnambool Central and East Warrnambool Rotary clubs have each donated a $495 headset to make reading the news more convenient and accessible.
Vision Australian’s Heather Martin-Trigg said broadcasters were already making the most of the new gadgets.
“With the mic in front, they need their hands to read the news on the CCTV screens, so now they can turn the pages without having to worry about using the static microphone,” Ms Martin-Trigg said. “It’s just a huge benefit and makes it easier to read the news.”
She said the equipment would allow more people with vision impairment to get involved. “We hope it may encourage other people with vision impairment to come along and be part of our radio program.”
