The company has announced it has gained China Inspection Quarantine (CIQ) accreditation for exporting to China, paving the way for airfreight of fresh, high-quality dairy products made in Camperdown.
Camperdown Dairy was set up three years ago in the former Camperdown Bonlac factory and sells milk and yoghurt in Victoria, South Australia, NSW and the ACT.
Camperdown Dairy chief executive officer Peter Skene said the company joined a small number of Australian dairy companies with CIQ certification for fresh milk.
He said it was excited about fresh dairy opportunities opened up by the FTA.
“Needless to say China is a big market and we are focused on meeting demand.
“The volume they need makes this market a very compelling proposition,” Mr Skene said.
“We are expecting to make our first production and shipment within weeks.
“There is no doubt this will be good for the company and good for the town.
“We have put Camperdown Dairy brand on our product and it won’t be long before we establish some sort of fame for Camperdown in China.”
Camperdown Dairy Company was formerly known as Aussie Farmers Direct and is separate to the Camperdown Dairy International.
Camperdown Dairy International plans to develop a factory, also on the former Camperdown Bonlac site, producing powdered milk products including infant formula.
