Consumer Affairs has warned Victorians that travelling scammers from New South Wales could be in the western Victoria region this month.
Consumer Affairs Victoria director Claire Noone said intelligence reports indicated several suspected con men were planning to meet in Colac at the end of November.
“We are concerned that they may take the opportunity to door knock and rip off Victorians on their way to, and from Colac,” Dr Noone said.
“I urge all Victorians, especially people living in the Barwon region and along routes to the area, to be wary of uninvited offers to do work at rates that seem cheap or are available ‘today only’ or for ‘cash only’."
Last week police warned Heytesbury residents about scam artists using a legitimate asphalt business name to rip people off.
