Male swimmers will be provided with a marquee to change in.
The permanent male change rooms were closed last week for extensive refurbishment and will remain off limits until late next month.
In the interim, two demountable buildings have been brought in to provide toilets, showers and change area near the 50-metre outdoor pool.
These will remain in place while female change rooms are closed and upgraded from late January through until mid-March.
Some Warrnambool Swim-ming Club members have expressed concern over the capability of the temporary facilities for the busy Sunday carnival which has 125 entrants and also timing of the work with the approaching summer peak.
Council communications manager Nick Higgins said officers were confident the temporary rooms could handle peak traffic.
“Timing of the work is influenced by availability of materials and contractors, but AquaZone remains busy during the whole year,” he said.
“The male and female change rooms will be refurbished as part of council’s asset renewal program.
“Tiles are being replaced, new mirrors installed and toilet partitions replaced.
“This is a $120,000 project.”
