Corangamite Shire Council’s recreation development officer Jarrod Woff said water-damaged timber flooring had been removed and the underlying concrete slab was being dried out.
Mr Woff said the new wooden planks had been stacked in the stadium to “acclimatise” before being laid. The floor was damaged when inadequate drainage allowed stormwater to seep under the stadium and into the timber.
Mr Woff said drains outside the stadium had since been upgraded to prevent the problem reoccurring. The cost of repairs is being covered by insurance and the stadium is closed while the works are under way.
The closure forced the Camperdown Amateur Basketball Association to relocate its games to the Mercy Regional College stadium.
