Nadine Leslie, 26, of Ocean Grove, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court this week to recklessly causing injury and being drunk. She was placed on a nine-month CCO with the conditions she perform 75 hours community work and undertake assessment and treatment for alcohol, drugs and mental health issues and programs such as an anger management course.

Police said Leslie and the victim had been in a relationship for more than five years.

On July 3 this year Leslie and her aunt had been drinking at her home when there was an argument between Leslie’s partner and her aunt.

After they dropped the aunt home, Leslie tried to climb out of a moving vehicle. 

The man held Leslie and drove to the Warrnambool Base Hospital emergency department to get her assessed because of her behaviour.

He parked at 11.55pm, got out of the car, ran to the other side of the vehicle and attempted to get her to go into the hospital.

However, Leslie punched and slapped him to the face several times. 

Soon after she attempted to swing several more punches.  

The assaults were captured by hospital security cameras.

The man drove out of the hospital car park with Leslie and took her to the police station.

Leslie walked off but was arrested about 15 minutes later by police for the assaults and being drunk. 

The victim suffered several bloody cuts to his face. 

In a police interview Leslie said she had drunk two bottles of liquor and four cans of beer. 

She said she had suffered a blackout and couldn’t recall what had happened.

A magistrate previously recommended Leslie be assessed to undertake a CCO but on that day she left the court and went home. 

This week she agreed to undertake the assessment, was found suitable and signed up to complete the order.
