Acting Detective Constable Nick Roberts, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said detectives travelled to Portland on Tuesday and executed a search warrant at an address.
A 14-year-old male was arrested and interviewed in relation to a petrol theft, a pursuit involving police which reached speeds of more than 150km/h on the outskirts of Port Fairy and two burglaries committed in the town on Tuesday last week.
It is alleged two youths were involved in break-ins and requested the use of a telephone from residents when they were trying to get home.
“The 14-year-old youth has been charged with burglary and theft-related offences,” Acting Detective Constable Roberts said.
“On Tuesday this week the majority of property stolen from Port Fairy in the two burglaries was recovered in Port Fairy.”
Acting Detective Constable Roberts said investigators knew the identity of the 19-year-old alleged co-offender.
“We are calling on that young man to hand himself in at the nearest police or contact the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit,” he said.
