Premier and member for South West Coast Denis Napthine said seniors in the south-west would be spoilt for choice with a range of activities on offer throughout the region and Victoria during October.
In Warrnambool, rock ’n’ roll veteran Jade Hurley will stage a concert and Portland will host a Seniors’ Day Out.
Dr Napthine urged older people in the south-west to participate in the various activities on offer for the festival, which runs from October 6 to 13.
“The great thing about the Seniors Festival is that events are being held right across Victoria with something to cater for everyone,” Dr Napthine said.
“People can pick up a guide and start working out which events and activities they want to go to whether it’s hitting the fairways with their golf clubs or enjoying music at a local concert — the opportunities are endless.
“He said free public transport for all Senior Card holders from October 5-12 would allow them to travel to Melbourne or elsewhere in Victoria.”
Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre will host the Jade Hurley concert on Thursday, October 9, with a concert the following day at the Portland Civic Hall for the Seniors’ Day Out.
Other local events include the APIA Veterans Golf Classic at Warrnambool Golf Club on Tuesday, October 14.
Gold Logie Award-winning TV and radio personality Denise Drysdale will headline Corangamite Shire’s celebrations with a concert at the Terang Civic Hall on Monday, October 6. Other activities include a mystery bus tour and Blokes’ Day Out visit to the Antique Auto Garage in Lismore.
