In a hard fought grand final the Power prevailed with a 26-24 win over a tenacious Old Collegians.
The win was the third straight 17 and under premiership for the Power with the Warriors runners-up on all three occasions.
Not only was it a three-peat for the Power but the win also gave them the title of premiers and champions.
As has been the case over the past three years when these teams have met, this was a close contest throughout. The Warriors got out to a slight 6-5 lead at quarter-time before the Power had the better of the second quarter to get their noses in front 11-9 at half-time.
A tense third quarter brought the margin back to just one goal the Power’s way going into the last quarter.
The final quarter remained a tight encounter before the Power cleared away with five minutes to go to open up a match-winning break which they kept until the final whistle.
They won 19 of their 20 games this year, with a draw in round 13 against the Warriors seeing them go through the season without a loss. Kolora-Noorat coach Hannah Clissold said she was proud of her team.
“It was a fantastic win. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy,” Clissold said.
“They are such a tough rival and we were a bit rattled early but the girls came back well and all the hard work paid off.”
Kolora-Noorat goal keeper Brooke Hoare was awarded the medal for best on court for her defensive endeavours.
Goal attack Maggie Lee and goal defence Laura Bourke were also strong contributors for the Power while wing attack Keahna Richards was the best for the Warriors.
