Warrnambool athletes warm up for Koroit half-marathon with 16km run | Photos

THE sun shone on 62 runners on Saturday as they slogged through the Warrnambool Athletics Club’s final race before the Koroit to Warrnambool Half Marathon.

Experienced runner Clinton Hall won the 16-kilometre race.

“It was a hard course with plenty of hills and a bit of cross country,” he said.

“I’m in the club so I do all the runs. It was a pretty solid course.”

Hall used the run as training preparation.

“It is good training for the Koroit to Warrnambool Half Marathon,” he said.

“I run most days. I probably do about 40 kilometres a week.”

On September 14 he is aiming to better his times from previous half-marathons.

“I’ll try and beat my times from the last couple of years,” he said.

“Hopefully I can run a bit quicker this time.”

Hall said he preferred shorter distances, but was willing to have a go at the longer races.

Warrnambool Athletics Club president John Keats was pleased with the number of runners.

“It was the last big hit-out before the half-marathon,” he said.“There were good numbers and the weather was great.”

Keats said runners completed two eight-kilometre loops.

“Everyone is in preparation mode for the Koroit to Warrnambool Half Marathon,” he said.

“We are looking forward to good entries, hopefully over 200. With the weather clearing up it should be good.”
