Allansford's Cheese World has been nominated for a archival survival award for volunteer-run museums.

CHEESE World is in the running for a prize at the Victorian Museum Awards.

The Allansford Cheese World Museum has entered a recent project commemorating 125 years of the Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory in the archival survival award for volunteer-run museums category.

The Victorian Museum Awards highlight outstanding achievements and service in the museum, gallery and collecting sector.

Cheese World Museum volunteers and museum supervisor Kim Kavanagh undertook a major project to produce a three-part exhibit depicting stories and artefacts outlining the company’s achievements from early beginnings to the present day.

The display incorporated a timeline recognising the journey and transitions of the company, a large pictorial information book featuring significant dairy farming families with early connections to the factory and a display commemorating the founders and the story of the beginnings of the company.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Melbourne Museum today.
