DESPITE the rough conditions outside, Warrnambool’s Fun4Kids Festival kicked off yesterday with plenty of smiles and laughter inside the tent city on the Civic Green.

Justice Crew proved to be the crowd favourite, with fans packing festival hall to get a glimpse of the all-male hip-hop dance and pop music group.
The Australia’s Got Talent alumni played two sets with highlights including their current number one hit Que Sera.
The high energy group got children and parents on their feet with elastic dance moves and a frenetic medley of songs.
Festival director Luke Cann said the festival had started with a bang.
“Ticket sales were already up on last year’s opening day before doors opened this morning which was great to see,” he said.
“With good walk-ups we can definitely say we’ve had a strong first day. We’re looking forward to hopefully seeing continued steady growth throughout the week.”
Mr Cann said the festival decided yesterday to release a second allocation of eight-day festival passes for a short amount of time only.
“We’ve made the decision after having a large number of locals enquiring about the eight-day festival passes today,” he said.
“We want locals to be able to escape this extreme Warrnambool weather for the rest of the week and purchasing an eight-day festival pass will be a great way to get the kids out of the house and keep them happy.”
Mr Cann said that if locals would like to take advantage of the second allocation, the Fun4Kids team is happy to credit purchases for the next seven days of the event in exchange for a second round eight-day festival pass.
Zimboys were a popular act on stage at festival hall, performing before Justice Crew.
The dazzling acrobatic show included a fire skipping rope and gravity defying stunts.
Across the festival arena, children enjoyed an array of activities including face-painting, woodwork, Lego and a giant sandpit.
In the Kid’s Kitchen, Geelong’s Abbey, Coco and Meg Watkins enjoyed decorated biscuits with their parents, Mary and Tony.
The animal farmyard was also popular with puppies, rabbits, guinea pigs, donkeys and chickens drawing delighted squeals.
The Warrnambool Art Gallery has been transformed and features a story book world and a dream store.
The festival continues today with X-Factor star Taylor Henderson on the main stage at 12.15pm and 2.15pm.
