The answer is at Timboon where local residents picked up the bales which fell from a passing truck on Friday evening.
Acting Sergeant Greg Skinner said the bales fell on to Bailey Street about 100 metres east of the police station about 5.40pm.
Two of the round 200-kilogram bales were badly damaged and four were intact.
“They are stored at the council depot and we would be keen to get in touch with the truck operator,” Acting Sergeant Skinner said.
“The eastbound truck may have been a white International S series prime mover.
“Loading straps came off and hit another truck travelling west at the time of the incident.
“It took council staff and local residents until 7pm to have the street cleared.”
