At 11.45am the Hino Tray truck was travelling south on Morris Road.
Its driver, a 48-year-old Port Fairy man driving under instruction, intended to turn right on Raglan Parade.
While stationary and giving way to oncoming traffic, a 1991 red Ford Laser driven by a 68-year-old Warrnambool man collided with the driver's side of the truck.
The car was towed away and the man was taken to hospital for observations, but the truck was able to drive away.
Police directed traffic while the scene was secured, and will investigate the cause of the incident.
