THE inaugural May Racing Carnival Gala Event at the Warrnambool Art Gallery attracted more than 180 people and was a taste of more to come.

The social event on Wednesday night was hosted by the recently-formed Young Professionals Warrnambool group and enticed people from a wide age bracket.

One of the organisers, Ed Mahony, said the success of the gala event had prompted the group to announce the gathering would become an annual event.

Mr Mahony said all profits from this year’s get-together would be donated to Peter’s Project, which is raising funds for a radiotherapy centre in Warrnambool.
