Children at Mahogany Kindergarten invited their prep buddies from the adjacent Warrnambool West Primary School to indulge in a friendly morning tea.
Teacher Kate Melican Rollo said the celebration was to welcome the end of the first school term.
“We invited the preps and their teddy bears to come together for a fun-filled day with lots of teddy bear activities including baking biscuits,” she said.
“This is the second time we have invited the preps. Earlier in the year we shared pancakes together.”
Next year some of the children in the kindergarten class will move up to prep at the primary school.
“It is all about fostering strong relationships with the school, especially the preps as a number of the children will be going to West,” Ms Melican Rollo said.
The kindergarten has three sessions each week and Ms Melican Rollo said 17 children were enrolled.
“It is a part of the school and we have our own yard,” she said.
“We are able to use the school’s facilities. We use the playground and the gym and we even went to the school sports.”
Children at the kindergarten are also able to access the school’s library.
“Children have their own library card,” Ms Melican Rollo said.
The large kindergarten classroom has been fitted out with recycled goods and other items were picked up at opportunity shops and garage sales.
