Work on demolishing the former Beaurepaires tyre service building began several days ago to make way for the new single-storey office and storage complex featuring a sweeping facade design inspired by coastal bird and marine life and historic shipping themes.
It is expected to be completed by early next year to house the 50-plus DEPI and Parks Victoria staff now based at Henna Street.
The site was owned by a Warrnambool entity and sold to the state government in 2012.
