Warrnambool site gets all-clear for new DEPI offices

CONSTRUCTION of the $8.25 million Warrnambool district headquarters for the Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) on Raglan Parade is scheduled to start next month.

Work on demolishing the former Beaurepaires tyre service building began several days ago to make way for the new single-storey office and storage complex featuring a sweeping facade design inspired by coastal bird and marine life and historic shipping themes.

It is expected to be completed by early next year to house the 50-plus DEPI and Parks Victoria staff now based at Henna Street.

The site was owned by a Warrnambool entity and sold to the state government in 2012.
