Zero visibility closes Cobden-Stonyford Road

DANGEROUS driving conditions forced police to close the Stonyford-Cobden Road on Sunday afternoon.

The main route was shut east of Ansons Road to the Princes Highway until about 6pm.

Strong south-westerly winds whipped up dust and ash from paddocks, creating zero visibility for motorists.

Police urged drivers to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

The paddocks were blackened by a fire, which was sparked from several ignition points last Wednesday afternoon. It has been contained but is still burning in rugged countryside.
