More than a dozen exhibitors have been unpacking their intricate layouts hoping to impress the expected crowds at the Archie Graham Community Centre on Timor Street.
Warrnambool Model Railway Club secretary Lindsay Bamford said the dynamics of enthusiasts was changing.
“Its not just for grumpy old men and retirees. We are pleased to see many couples participating now. It’s too much fun to confine it to just the blokes,” Mr Bamford said.
He said the award-winning displays would include models that ranged in size from an ounce to half-a-ton and represented railways from across the globe.
“We always accept the challenge to make it better each year (with) different layouts, different themes, and this year we have a few never seen by the public before anywhere in Australia.”
