Taylor polled 57 votes from 10 matches to finish behind winner Alex Hickey (77 votes) and runner-up James Tsitas (68).
The honour came despite the Terang Mortlake teenager and Vic Country representative missing finals with a stress fracture in his left foot.
Taylor, who also received recognition for being in the TAC Cup team of the year, was one of two Hampden region footballers on the Falcons’ 2013 honour roll.
Colac footballer Darcy Lang won the most improved award and finished sixth in the best and fairest count with 43 votes from seven matches. Lang missed a large chunk of the season after dislocating his left ankle and breaking his left fibula playing for Vic Country in July.
