Regional Australia Minister Catherine King and Wannon ALP candidate Michael Barling yesterday revealed the projects that were successful in round five of the Regional Development Australia Fund.
Glenelg scored the biggest win, with a Labor commitment of nearly $400,000 for an upgrade of its aquatic infrastructure.
Mr Barling said funding for the facilities was recognition of the role swimming pools played across the Glenelg Shire.
“The Glenelg aquatic facilities play an important role in providing infrastructure that supports healthy lifestyles for communities across the Glenelg Shire,” Mr Barling said.
The Hamilton Indoor Leisure and Aquatic Centre also gained $100,000 to improve energy efficiency, reduce running costs and boost user conditions.
A Lake Hamilton foreshore skate park and all-abilities playground, including a boardwalk and bird hide, will receive $150,000.
Mr Barling described the funding as an important contribution to lives of children and young people in Hamilton.
A grant of nearly $140,000 will go towards the construction of a new cell and leachate pond at the Hamilton landfill.
