Senior Constable David Rook, from Macarthur police, said the woman had been charged and bailed to appear in Warrnambool Magistrates Court in August.
He said that in March the woman allegedly offered tickets to the concert for $100 on the social media site. “Another woman has contacted her, said she would take the tickets and paid the money, but the tickets never arrived,” he said.
Senior Constable Rook said the purchaser again made contact with the woman who said she had sent the tickets.
“They were in communication over three months. Eventually the woman asked for her money back, and when it never arrived and the seller stopped replying, police were contacted.
“We caught up with the woman last week and charged her with obtaining property by deception and bailed her to the Warrnambool Magistrates Court.”
Senior Constable Rook said it was a timely reminder to take care when purchasing items online.
“I would suggest if you are close to the person selling items, arrange to meet them and do the exchange face-to-face,” he said.
He urged anyone else who may have paid for tickets that didn’t arrive to contact him at the Macarthur police station on 5576 1122.
