THE Corangamite Relay for Life will return to Cobden tomorrow with 36 teams registered.
Participants in the fourth annual fund-raiser have been reminded to be aware of the warmer weather predicted for the weekend.
Committee chairwoman Trish Wynd said more participants were expected to turn up on the day.
“The carers and survivors walk is first and then it’s the candlelight ceremony,” she said.
“It’s always quite emotional.
“We have 36 teams at this stage.
“There will be plenty of activities and music. There will also be lots of children’s entertainment.
Last year about 2060 people made the event a success with more than $118,000 raised.
Ms Wynd said the event had proven to be very popular in the Corangamite Shire and preparations were well under way. “It’s been very good in previous years,” she said.
“There will also be a few fund-raisers there.”
Ms Wynd has been involved in the Corangamite Relay for Life since it began.
“Before then I used to walk in Geelong, like a lot of families who have been touched by cancer,” she said.
Relay for Life officially begin at 4.45pm tomorrow at Cobden Recreation Reserve in Parrott Street and finish at 11am on Sunday.
