A 42-YEAR-OLD Portland man was arrested last night in Melbourne after allegedly stabbing a security guard in the neck.
Security personnel detained a man outside a licensed premises and police were swiftly at the scene, arresting him around 11.20pm.
Police took the man into custody after a security guard was allegedly assaulted following an altercation in Swanston Street.
The 42-year-old Portland man was interviewed and released early this morning pending summons to appear in court.
The security guard, a 23-year-old Toorak man, was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with minor lacerations to his neck.
