In Shepparton, Hampden is in pool A of the VCFL Country Championships with the Goulburn Valley, Ovens and Murray and Ballarat leagues. It will be difficult for some players to arrange their family and work commitments as the Shepparton trip involves all players to take Friday off work. The squad consists of Marissa Chapman, Jacqui Bowman, Kylie Reus, Casey Owen, (Warrnambool); Sarah Hearn, Emily Batt (Koroit); Kerry McGlade, Emma Beks, Ebony Place, Elyse Howard (Cobden); Sue Flemming (South Warrnambool); Leah Sinnott (Camperdown); Belinda O'Connor, Sioban Sefton, Megan McKenzie (Terang Mortlake); Jo Jenkins (North Warrnambool Eagles); Nicole Dwyer (Port Fairy). By finishing in the top two, a team can go on to play in Melbourne and play-off against five other zones across Victoria to determine the state champion. The Hampden under 15 side is the reigning champion and should automatically receive a wildcard to play in Melbourne. Netball Victoria will have talent scouts at the tournament watching the under 13s, under 15s and bottom age under 17 players who have standout ability to try-out for the state squad.NEW Rule Changes Explained seminar will now be held on Friday, May 16 at 7pm at the Warrnambool Football Club, Cramer Street, Warrnambool.All-Ausralian umpire and State League umpire supervisor Barb Cox will be presenting the evening. It is compulsory for four members from each club to attend. The HFNL strongly encourages all players, coaches and definitely club umpires to attend. The new rules will be aopted on Saturday, May 24.ALL South Warrnambool and North Warrnambool Eagles home netball games will begin play at 9am this Saturday due to uncertainity of court surfaces. Both had a rubber-type surface layed two seasons ago on their main courts and have had troubles with a slippery surface. As weather is too hard to predict for these clubs on a Thursday night, the Hampden league executive made a decision so that all other clubs and umpires know exactly what times games will be played each Saturday.SOUTH Warrnambool Roosters won all six grades of netball last Saturday. Netball co-ordinator Anne-Marie Quinlan asked several long term members of the Roosters how long since this had happened and nobdy could come up with an answer. South has persisted with its juniors over many seasons and hopefully it is on its way back to being a successfull netball club.
