The teams meet today in the penultimate home-and-away round, with third-ranked Green desperately seeking an upset to consolidate its position in the top four.
On the other hand, second-placed Gold needs a win to consolidate its position in the top two as it aims to secure a double chance in finals.
Eleven points separate the pair on the ladder.
“We always look forward to these games,” Gold’s Bev Wallace said.
“I think it will be a great game. Whenever the two teams play in division one, there’s always a friendly rivalry.”
Wallace plays in Denise Hillier’s rink, which also consists of Helen Madden (second) and Shirley Brown (third).
Their consistent line-up has resulted in a strong season, which Gold is hoping to continue today as it tries to build momentum ahead of the Tuesday Pennant finals series.
The side sits behind competition pacesetter Warrnambool Gold, which dealt the defending champs an 87-67 loss in the last match a fortnight ago.
“They’ve been more consistent this season,” Wallace said of the ladder leaders.
The lead, who has played at City Memorial for eight years, was satisfied with Gold’s form in 2011-12.
“I think we’re more settled now than we have been,” she said.
Clubmate City Green sits four points ahead of Port Fairy (fourth) on the ladder and eight points above Terang (fifth).
A win to Terang today against Warrnambool Blue (sixth) could see the former replace Port Fairy in the top four, as Port will start underdog against Warrnambool Gold.
In the remaining division one match, City Memorial Blue (eighth) hosts Timboon (seventh).
