After the overwhelming success of the event last year, the Warrnambool Rodeo is on again at the site of the Allansford field days.
Bull riding, saddle bronc, barrel racing and bareback riding will feature in the main arena.
Woodford Cricket Club is organising the event and president John Palmer said south-west locals and visitors were bound to see a good show.
Last January an enthusiastic crowd of about 2500 rolled through the gates despite wet weather. Palmer hopes to see more numbers next month.
“There will be about three hours of entertainment in terms of riding,” he said.
“We had a bit of drizzle last time but it fined up. We’re hoping for good weather.”
Some of the nation’s best riders and bucking stock would be on display in the natural amphitheatre at Allansford.
Lyons farmer Ron Woodall has booked the riders and is providing the bulls.
Colac export Adam Hinkley will return to defend his open bull riding title that he collected at Allansford earlier this year.
He will be joined by a bunch of other excitement machines including in-form Chiltern young gun Bryden Atkins, who is fresh from a stint in America.
Woodall said his bulls Unstoppable, Ariat Tomato Juice and Ariat Pure Evil would test the riders.
A mechanical bull will be available for kids as well as
face painting and a jumping castle.
Food vans and a licensed area will also be on site throughout the evening.
Free buses will be available to take people back into Warrnambool after the main event.
But the party will kick on with local band Show Of Hands performing.
The Warrnambool Rodeo is on Saturday, January 7, the
night after the Tyrendarra Rodeo. Gates at the
Allansford field days site open at 4.30pm and action starts at 6.30pm.
Tickets are on sale from Country Impressions, Warrnambool Toyota and the Shamrock Hotel or can be purchased at the event on the night. A family pass is $50, adults $20, children $10 and youngsters under five are free.
BYO alcohol is not allowed.
