After a two-year break from the club, the 29-year-old has stepped into the top job raring to go.
Clements said there would be nothing fancy about the Demons' push for a finals berth next year.
Rather, he said it was time for sheer hard work.
"Reinventing the wheel is not something I'm into," he said.
"I will be keeping it simple.
"Everyone will know their role, from the back pocket to the full-forward.
"If everyone gives their two or five per cent then we should play some good footy."
Clements has enjoyed a career spanning several leagues.
He played his juniors at Cobden before pulling on the boots with Timboon for two years as an older teenager.
He has also lined up for Lexton, Aberfeldie and Altona.
Clements returned to Timboon Demons as an assistant coach in 2007 and 2008.
After snaring the Warrnambool and District league flag two years ago, he crossed to South Warrnambool.
"I'm not sure how I would have gone from assistant coach to coach," he said.
"It might have been more difficult.
"I wanted to do my own thing so I went away."
Clements is one of the first players to depart the Roosters' nest following their loss against Warrnambool this year.
The onballer is now looking forward to new challenges in familiar territory.
"I'm passionate about coaching," he said.
"I think it's only as tough as you make it.
"I love the town and I love the club.
"I'm a Timboon boy and there's nothing better than getting back to your home town."
Clements has already started the Demons' recruiting drive, putting a call out to any forward target who would like to don the red and blue guernsey.
But he is also complimentary of the current playing list.
"Everyone chases a key forward," he said.
"The forward entry to score ratio was not quite high enough this year.
"(But) we've got some good young kids as well and that will be our focus."
The Emmanuel College physical education teacher shares an office with new rival James Byrne - who coaches Allansford.
"We're good mates," Clements said.
"I sit about a metre from him and we usually talk about football.
"I'm sure I might be taking some of his ideas and he might take some of mine."
Clements was one of five applicants who put their hand up to replace out-going senior coach Brad Sholl.
After the Demons missed out on the finals race this season, the new man at the helm is keen to return the club to the top order next year.
"Hopefully we can play some good, team oriented football," he said.
"The playing group has to be there for the right reasons.
"We will be aiming to play finals.
"We are a proud club and we want to be successful."
Chris Fleming will continue to guide the reserves next season while Jarrad Cook has stepped up to coach the under 17s.
