The didgeridoo player is a regular at the Port Fairy Folk Festival and also busks in the Warrnambool CBD.
He has been playing the didgeridoo since he was six and saved up for six months to buy a $260 scooter.
His father, David, said the scooter was stolen from their Merrivale Drive house and his son was devastated.
He said the scooter was at the side of the house when it was stolen. “He cried when he realised. He was in tears,” Mr Waterfield said.
“He is handling it reasonably well but he is also trying to comprehend what has happened.
“It’s pretty lousy for anyone to steal something that is highly valued to a child.
“He’s shown he has a good work ethic and he has saved up to buy it.
“We’ve encouraged our child to work hard if you want something and this is what happens.”
Yesterday John was back performing and said he was angry and saddened by the theft.
Mr Waterfield said a $100 reward was on offer if the scooter was returned undamaged.
