At 88, Mrs Meade is set to be one of the oldest at the family gathering while her twin great-grandchildren Madeleine Annemarie Isabel and Penelope Therese Annie born on April 14, will almost certainly be among the youngest.

Madeleine and Penelope are direct descendants of Patrick "Diamond" Meade who came to Australia in 1901 from Ballymakea Beg, Mullagh, County Clare, Ireland.

Mr Meade was a dairy farmer at "Blackwood Gully" in Garvoc with his aunt Mary Morrissey.

After Margaret Nolan and "Diamond" were married they settled permanently at the farm where they raised nine children, of which only one, Mary (Meade) Kelly is still alive today.

Organiser of the reunion Helen Kreek said she became interested in the family tree though her her nephew David, who, after his father's death, carried on his research into their family history.

The pair have managed to trace a family tree with 588 people, which will be on display at the reunion, and decided to organise the first reunion to meet some of their relatives in the south-west.

Patrick and Margaret have nearly 200 descendants, with many still residing in Garvoc and the surrounding areas with their own families.

The Patrick "Diamond" and Margaret (Nolan) Meade family reunion will be held on Sunday, June 12 at the Garvoc Hall from noon.

Descendants and other relatives of Patrick and Margaret are invited to attend, with photos and family tree information to share.
