The Cavendish Cafe owner decided to end the contest once and for all by devising an eight-kilogram beast expected to lure competitive eaters and curious travellers from across the nation.
Featuring three 1.5kg meat patties, eight eggs, nine slices of cheese and ample servings of lettuce, tomato, beetroot, onion and pineapple, the burger is designed to be tackled by at least two very hungry people.
It has joined the cafe's original 4kg version, which is yet to be finished in less than an hour despite a series of valiant efforts in the three-and-a-half years it has been on offer.
Ms Duffin said word of a 5kg burger on a Queensland pub menu inspired the cafe .
"We always knew when we put ours out there that there was going to eventually be someone else who would get into this," she said.
"We're going to stay on top no matter what ? well, within reason."
If a duo is able to get through the $149 meal in under 60 minutes their money will be refunded, though Ms Duffin said the monster was likely to appeal to groups.
"I still get blown away by the number of people who drive from Melbourne," she said.
"They drive here, they eat our burger and then they get in the car and drive home," she said.
"Out of all of the burgers that we sell as dine-in ones, I reckon 60 per cent of the people are from Melbourne."
Individuals have fund-raised and steeled themselves to complete the one-hour challenge and, despite several promising starts, have staggered away without glory.
"One guy came from Dimboola, a very quiet achiever, and he ate three-quarters of it which was mind-blowing," Ms Duffin said.
The Cavendish Cafe is launching its 8kg burger this weekend as part of a hot rod celebration that will see club members from Hamilton and Horsham camp in the local recreation reserve.
About 100 people are expected to arrive for the three-day event, which will feature a show and shine tomorrow morning if weather permits.
