Born in December, little Blake Hutchins is the centre of attention at Mrs Hayden’s Warrnambool home as the family, who travelled from Queensland and London, gather to welcome him into the fold.
“It’s a full house,” Mrs Hayden said. “It’s just wonderful, it’s like they’ve never been away.”
Five generations of the family are gathered together in Mrs Hayden’s home for the unplanned, but certainly welcomed, reunion.
Blake’s mother Rhianna Barton-Hutchins was enjoying spending time at her Toowoomba home with her London-based mother Lee Barton-Wright, Mrs Hayden’s daughter, who travelled to Australia to meet her grandson.
The pair decided to travel to Warrnambool to the delight of Mrs Hayden and her 83-year-old mother Roma Tolley, who is Blake’s great-great-grandmother.
And while Mrs Hayden agrees having five generations together doesn’t happen very often, it’s the second time it has happened in this family.
“Mum’s mum was in her 90s when Rhianna was born, so it has happened in this family before,” Mrs Hayden said.
Though she manages to see her granddaughter a few times a year, it has been two years since Mrs Hayden’s daughter has been home from London.
“It’s really great to have everyone all together; great to have them all home,” she said.
