Detective Sergeant Steve Brown, of the Portland police crime investigation unit, said there had been a series of burglaries, attempted break-ins and thefts committed in Portland this week.
Trident Tyre Centre in Kalina Court was broken into at 3.20am this morning after offenders tried to gain entry through the front door and eventually did break in through a front window.
The office area including cupboards was ransacked although at this stage police don't believe anything was stolen.
Warrnambool-based crime scene officers are now on the way to Portland to examine the premises.
Overnight Wednesday there was an attempted burglary at Portland Bus Lines in Garden Street.
Fuses were found missing from a fuse box and fly wire screen missing from windows to the staff room but entry was not gained to the premises and nothing was stolen.
The crimes follow similar offences at business on the Portland-Nelson Road earlier in the week, the theft of a car in Percy Street and a wallet was stolen from the Portland hospital.
Detective Sergeant Brown called on anyone with any information about any of the offences to contact the Portland police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
