An elderly woman has been smashed in the head by would-be thieves who set up a sting to attack her.
The 73-year-old woman was inside her Rockhampton home in central Queensland at 11pm on Wednesday, when suddenly the power supply went out.
"The woman exited the home and while checking the switchboard she was struck from behind. Hit in the head with an unknown implement," a Queensland Police spokesperson said.
"A male yelled at the woman, while a second male conducted a quick search of the house."
