A new computerised camera has been installed on the roof of the harbour pavilion to provide 360-degree views over the breakwater, Middle Island and main beach.
It complements a camera further to the east on the roof of Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village which has been popular with viewers for about four years.
Tourism services manager Peter Abbott said the pavilion camera set-up cost about $5000.
"It provides sweeping views of the area, but cannot be manually controlled like the Flagstaff Hill one which has had about 700 visitors a month rising to 1000 in summer."
The cameras can be accessed through the Flagstaff Hill website.
