THE LATEST POLLS
- The average of major published opinion polls sits at 55.3 per cent to Labor on a two-party preferred basis.
- Newspoll says Labor's primary vote has dropped a point to 37 per cent while the coalition's primary vote remains unchanged on 36 per cent, resulting in a one-point gain for the coalition on a two-party-preferred basis with the ALP ahead 53-47.
- Newspoll also indicates Scott Morrison has pulled ahead of Anthony Albanese as the better PM. Mr Albanese fell three points to 39 per cent while Mr Morrison rose a point to 44 per cent.

WHAT IS MAKING NEWS:
- Palm Sunday rallies called for more humane refugee and asylum seeker policies.
- Parliament will be prorogued at 9.29am, and the House of Representatives dissolved at 9.30am. The official secretary to the governor general will formally read out the proclamation outside Parliament House, followed by a 19-gun salute by the Federation Guard.
