The Warrnambool and District Cricket Association will only feature one-day and twenty20 cricket this summer because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Tigers host West Warrnambool in their season-opener on November 13.

Fleming noted Merrivale - which made last season's twenty20 grand final - played a lot of white ball cricket last year and he'll go in with similar plans.

"I just know I'm probably gonna get hit every now and then and they're gonna come after me with being a spinner," the 19-year-old said.

"So you've just got to wear that and then just try and work them over and hope they miss hit one if they start getting on to me.

"I know I'm going to get hit but I like the challenge.

"I like coming up against the ones that are going to try and blast me because I know I'm in the game."

As he said he's got "10 blokes out in the field to catch one for me so hopefully they just hold on."

Fleming is coming up to his fourth division one season and has constantly been trying to improve his craft.

He said he had learned how to change up his bowling when a batter got on top of him.

"I used to just try and bowl the same spot every ball but now I've got a few different options that I can go with if things aren't working out for me," he said.

While bowling is his focus, Fleming has started to put more time into his batting.

"I'm getting a bit better but I just hope the other blokes do their job and I just do mine when bowling," he said.

Fleming is part of a formidable attack which also features pace bowlers Jarrod Petherick, Josh Stapleton and Marcus Bunney.

His cousin Wil, a 21-year-old, also bowls off-spin every now and then.

"We're a pretty good bowling unit, we have been a lot of the time" he said.

"It's our batting that normally costs us but last year was a pretty big improvement on years before. So hopefully everything just clicks this year."

While most youngsters jump straight into pace bowling, Fleming has had the courage to learn spin.

He's drawn inspiration from international and local players.

"(Shane Warne) Warney is a good character, I like Nathan Lyon and how he goes about it," Fleming said.

"Obviously, we've got Bill (Fary) down here as well which is a really big help.

"He's one of the best spinners we've seen down here, so he's a really big help to me just with different game plans to different batters."

Fary, a leg-spinner, is a club legend.

"He helps me with my techniques and different balls and how to work over batsmen in different situations," Fleming added.

The young gun is optimistic about the Tigers' fortunes this summer.

"We made a twenty20 grand final last year which shows we're obviously good enough to beat everyone," he said.

"We did beat every team last year so hopefully everything clicks and we don't drop any games that we shouldn't drop. And then hopefully we're playing some finals cricket and anything can happen from there."

Fleming is coming off an under 18.5 footy season with Warrnambool Blues.

He's planning to play in the upcoming under 23 footy competition in November. It features six Hampden league teams and will go for five weeks.

"I've got that on Friday nights and then I'll back up and play cricket on Saturdays which will be a challenge but it won't be too bad," he said.

He has played at half-back the past year.
