This case is not linked to the Glenelg cluster of three active cases in one household who have previously been identified.
The new case is an essential work contractor from the Melbourne area who was working in the Glenelg shire.
This person has returned home to Melbourne.
The Barwon South West Public Health Unit has been in contact with the person and commenced contact tracing process.
The worker presented for testing after experiencing symptoms and has remained in isolation since the test.
Portland District Health Service in waiting for any updates to the community from the Barwon South West Public Health Unit.
The positive case was announced late Thursday evening.
PDHS is encouraging anyone with COVID symptoms, such as fever, dry cough and tiredness to isolate and get tested as soon as possible and for all our community to keep up social distancing and hand hygiene.
The current Portland drive through testing clinic hours today will be 10am until 4pm at Portland District Health.
ANyone wanting to be tested must phone in advance to confirm a drive through time before arriving 5521 0387.
Prior to ringing please register your details via the QR code provided to assist the process.
The hours and location of testing will be constantly reviewed depending on exposure sites.
Currently there are no listed exposure sites for the Glenelg shire.
