Victor Zammit, 31, of Scott Street, Mortlake, pleaded guilty in the Koori division of Warrnambool Magistrates Court in August to recklessly causing serious injury, intentionally damaging property and other offences.
On Thursday he was jailed for one year and eight months.
He must serve a non-parole period of 12 months.
The charges related to an incident on April 27, 2019 when Zammit attended the 32-year-old male victim's property in Warrnambool's Lachlan Street.
An argument occurred between the victim and a third man. Zammit and the third man collected some belongings from the property and entered the offender's unregistered Ford Futura.
The victim raised a Coke drinking glass and Zammit said: "If he hits the car I will run him over."
The victim then threw the glass at the windscreen, causing it to break.
The court heard Zammit drove the car forwards, over a street light and into the victim, pinning him between the car and the house. He then reversed at speed and fled the vicinity.
The house was considerably damaged.
The court heard the victim suffered two broken legs, requiring surgery.
Zammit said the incident was an accident, that he panicked and hit the accelerator and was "shocked and horrified" to hear what had happened.
In a victim impact statement, the injured man said he suffered long-term pain and extensive isolation after the incident, which left him in a wheelchair for up to 12 months.
Magistrate Mark Stratmann said the offending had a "very significant impact" on both the victim and the offender, and that an immediate term of imprisonment was the only appropriate sentence.
