South West Sport announced the South West Games will run for the first time since 2019. The games will be held in Warrnambool from November 20 to 28.
Clubs are encouraged to use the games to welcome new members and display the essence of the sport in a revised format, such as social modified style activities or come and try sessions.
SWS interim chief executive Brendan Jones said sport has faced a lot of challenges in the past two years.
Listen to the latest episode of our weekly podcast The Main Break:
"This year has been challenging for the sport across the country, and every single sport code has faced a significant number of interruptions making it hard to have regular competition or even participation," he said.
"In the last 18 months, the sports and recreation industries have faced significant disruptions leading to increased physical inactivity and social isolation.
"We encourage local clubs and organisations to use the 2021 South West Games in 2021 as an avenue to re-activate sport and recreation activities within the community in a diverse, inclusive and safe environment."
The games encourage a sense of municipal and regional pride, foster networking between clubs and associations to create opportunities for support, inclusion and diversity to south-west communities.
