Colac's Australian Lamb Company has clarified today's confirmed case is an ex-employee, however two housemates who are currently working for the company are isolating with the case.
UPDATED: South West Healthcare said today's new case in the Corangamite Shire is currently being re-tested.
EARLIER:
Four household contacts of a known COVID case isolating in Warrnambool have tested positive to the virus, while a new case has also been recorded in Corangamite Shire and the Colac area.
There are now five COVID cases isolating in Warrnambool and seven new exposure sites have been released, including one Tier 1 venue. South West Healthcare said additional sites were expected.
It comes after Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley announced yesterday morning a new COVID case had been recorded in Warrnambool. South West Healthcare later clarified that individual was not linked to the Corangamite Shire infection who travelled through the south-west.
The new infection had been tested in Melbourne and was directed to return home to isolate.
In this morning's press conference, Professor Ben Cowie also announced one additional COVID case had been confirmed in Corangamite Shire. No further detail was given.
Colac Area Health has also confirmed a new COVID case in the regional centre. Exposure sites are expected and are yet to be released.
Australian Lamb Company said the case was a previous worker. However, two current employees are household contacts of that individual and are isolating.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The numbers were part of 30 new cases recorded in regional Victoria, meaning there are now 225 active cases across the regions.
Meanwhile, Victoria recorded 950 new COVID cases on Wednesday, bringing the number of active cases across Victoria to 9890.
Sadly, seven COVID-positive Victorians died overnight, including two women in their 80s, a man in his 80s, a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 50 from Hume. A woman in her 80s and a woman in her 90s also died overnight, both from the Whittlesea communities.
There are 371 COVID-positive Victorians in hospital with COVID-19, 81 of those were in intensive care and 55 of those 81 were on a ventilator.
