Thalia Coates' 2021 was a year of fresh achievements.
The Nirranda talent - who polled 23 votes - beat Russells Creek's Melina Kelson in a two-vote thriller to secure the Warrnambool and District league's B grade best and fairest on Thursday night.
"It was really good. It's definitely a faster game than juniors, but I was lucky enough to play a bit of seniors over the past few years so I was sort of prepared for it in a way," Coates said.
It's definitely a different game, but it's been a great step up. You're coming up against people that've played for a long, long time. They know what they're doing.

"It's definitely a different game, but it's been a great step up. You're coming up against people that've played for a long, long time. They know what they're doing."
Coates said she was proud to be part of the club, which secured senior and reserves football and A grade netball minor premierships. The Blues were red-hot favourites for success in the league's finals series before COVID-19 restrictions forced the cancellation of the season.
"Nirranda as a club is just doing really, really well and I think they'll continue to do really, really well," she said.
"We've got a really good culture out there so it's only going to go up more, I think.
"We finished fourth in the end but we had a pretty good season and I think we were really eager to get into finals and do the best that we could."
Kelson said she'd enjoyed her season juggling coaching and playing at Mack Oval.
